Navien Condensing NR/NP Models Tankless Water Heater

Navien Condensing NR/NP
For the prospective tankless water heater owner efficiency is a key metric by which heaters are measured. While other heaters are usually around 80 to 85% percent efficient, Navien Condensing NR/NP tankless water heaters average an astounding 98% percent efficiency. These models are able to achieve this high efficiency by a condensate recovery system.
Models from other manufacturers utilize either natural gas or propane as fuel, and give off water vapor in the exhaust, which is then passed out the exhaust duct to the outside. The Navien NR/NP models pass the exhaust gas through a second heat exchanger and condense the water vapor back into hot water which is then recycled. Other manufacturers do not have a second heat exchanger and dump any condensate generated by the exhaust cooling process as waste.
The Navien NR/NP models are either natural gas or LP powered and offer maximum heat inputs from 150,000 to 200,000 BTU. Temperature rise specifications vary depending on model, but using 45˚F as a baseline, the three flow rates specified are 6.5, 7.7, and 8.6 gpm. In addition, up to 98 individual heaters can be linked together to supply heavier demand applications.
All models come with 3/4" NPT fittings for both gas and water attachments. All heat exchangers are made of stainless steel, not copper like other manufacturers. The water input pressure can vary between 15 and 150 psi, and ignition is via standard 120V household supply. Minimum flow rate required for activation is 0.5 gpm except on models equipped with a buffer tank. For these "A" models, there is no minimum activation flow rate.
The Navien Condensing NR/NP tankless water heaters also come with one of the best warranties in the industry. The heat exchangers are warranted for 15 years and all other parts are warranted for 5 years.
